Next Club Meeting:

 Friday 1st August 2014

..........................................................................................................................

This evenings theme is yet to be passed onto me, when it is I will post it here,

Good Hunting    Roy

Finds Table :-

It was discussed at the A.G.M. and in future if there are any gold coins to go on the monthly finds table they would be placed and voted on seperately as it has been noticed in the past members are not placing finds of any significance especially silver or a great piece of bronze on the finds table if someone has already put a gold coin down to be voted on.

Hopefully this will encourage members to show their finds knowing that they are still in with a chance of gaining votes which all add up for the detectorist of the year trophy.

Directions to the Arena can be found by scrolling down to the map below

We believe our club may be one of the largest in the country and we are always keen to hear from other clubs to find out what they are up to, why not register as a member of our new blog page?

We have club sites that members can detect on for free, and we have access to some farms that we call 'pay and play' and only cost £5.00 a day. The club meets at the Arena Leisure Centre, Circular Rd E, Colchester, Essex CO2 7SZ, on the first Friday of every month. The Arena Leisure centre has a bar for the purchase of food and drink. The map below shows the Arena Leisure Centre marked with a red map pin.

Finds of The Month:

With finds now coming in of all shapes and sizes one of the main events of the club evening is to visit the finds table where Colin Gilbert will be displaying  items found the previous month for you to vote on for 'coin and artefact of the month'. There are prizes for the most voted for coin and artefact. Please bring along any interesting finds and who knows you may walk off with a prize

Club Meetings:

Most meetings involve a guest speaker. In the past this has included archeologists who have lectured on such topics as Roman Colchester or East Anglia in the Iron Age. Sometimes the speakers will talk on subjects not necessarily directly linked to history, coins or artefacts but are never the less very interesting. If there is no speaker available a suitable DVD may be shown instead!

To boost the amount of guest speakers it may be necessary on occasion to pay them a modest appearance fee above and beyond the usual travel expenses that the club pays. On these dates it has been agreed that members will be charged £1 on the night to attend. Non-members will be welcome to attend for the same small entrance fee. These special events will be advertised on this site as soon as they have been agreed. The range of speakers and topics has yet to be agreed by club members.
